Update: Councillor John Drage link to "The officer's report to the Committee can be viewed on the Council's website" here
I have an invitation to attend the meeting on 8th Maym and to speak for 4 mins re comments already submitted (not new material). Anyone interested?
And I have been thinking about compaigning for a new name for the road. Bearing in mind we are trying to strengthen Hackbridge's identity, I think it is worth making alink with the past. The important big house which stood here was Hackbridge House, which was the home of the Goad family, and then became Hackbridge Park Hotel, and had a TA battery in WW2. (see photo)
So we could easily go for Hackbridge House Gardens... Hackbridge Park Gardens.... Hackbridge Park.... Goad Gardens..... Hack Bridge Close....
Helpful note from Councillor John Drage:
The planning application to replace the concrete blocks in Corbet Close with54 terraced houses is due to be considered by the Development ControlCommittee on 8 May. The officer's report to the Committee can be viewed onthe Council's website, but it is a bit of a mission to find it.
From the council's home page www.sutton.gov.uk click on "Democracy,Elections and Voting" in the box headed "Other Services". Next click on"Council - Minutes , Agendas and Reports" under the Local Democracy heading.Next scroll down to find "Development Control Committee" in the right handcolumn and click on this heading. Then near the top of the new page clickon "Agenda and Minutes of Meetings". In the "show meetings for the year"line click on 2013 in the dropdown box and then click on Go. Then click on8 May 2013 in the box. Corbet Close is item 3. Click on this and thereport should open as a pdf document.
If you wish to see the application itself: from the Council's home pageclick on "Planning" in the box with a red heading at the top of the homepage. Then click on "Online Planning Register" and enter "C2012/66014" inthe Planning Application Number Block.
I have also sent a letter off to Sarah Lowe the local PCSO, the council and Tom Brake.
Once again, last night the youths were causing damage. On Saturday morning, after once again being kept awake until 01:00 there was lots rubbish and cans by the flats with remnants of the bike they had broken up on Thursday night in the road this behaviour is unacceptable. Yesterday evening at around 20:00 I could hear banging outside, as I went outside I met another neighbour who can also hear the banging - she lives are the far end of the row to me. On following the noise, we discovered three youths. One of the youths was sitting on the floor with a hammer in his hand hitting the lower garage wall. When challenged he replied this is Corbet Close, as much to say I don't care and can do as I like. When asked to stop he continued to argue as if it his given right to do what he likes unchallenged. There is more graffiti around the close, including an addition to the tag that the council failed to remove from the wall outside 61 Corbet Close. A few weeks ago, we confronted a tall blonde boy as he had a hammer and was breaking off the pebble dashing on the garages belonging to the houses, when asked by he was damaging the wall he replied, because I can! Whilst it is understood and accepted that for the near future the residents of Corbet will have to accept disruption, it is not acceptable to expect the residents of the houses to put up with the lack of sleep due to the noise, damage to property and the mess. As these youths consider this normal behaviour, if these issues are not addressed now, as more flats become vacant the problem will increase.
Sorry meeting at Hackbridge Primary school.
I saw in the Fish n chip shop yesterday that there is a meeting on Thursday to give us an update on the community, maybe there will be some one from the council that can tell us what is going on? Do we know if the re-devolopement plans for Corbet have been passed yet?
