Hi

The barking went on most of the night. I understand that some people did call the police but they did not attend. No security guards appear to be on site at nights. An unmarked white van eventually turned up and the dog seemed to disappear.

I intend to contact the council today.

Hi - there was constant barking in the early hours today from 3.30am until about 7am and sounded like it was coming from Corbet Close way, rather than Felnex. Does anyone know if there are now security guards on site and the dog belongs to them?

Thanks
Lysanne

An update. I spoke to the demolition company today. They confirmed it will be approx 16 weeks from today before they complete their part of the project. This is due to the two site incursions;and the large amount of debris and damage they did to the asbestos in situ in the flats.

For those who are not already aware, the gypsies have now all left. Tho court eviction order remains valid for the next three months so let's hope that is an end to it.
Cheers, Jeff

Following the latest incursion by travellers(gypsies) on the site opposite the houses in the Close I can now update you on action taken having spoken to the Council's Lawyer.

He tells me a Court Order was served on the gypsies today and they have a day to vacate the site. if they have not done so by then a further Court Order will be obtained this week with a view to evicting them towards the end of next week. Sorry I can't be more specific on dates. This reflects what the Council's Lawyer said to me.
During the occupationI have also spoken to our CommunityPolice Team. They confirmed they were aware the land the gypsies are on is owned by the London Borough of Sutton/Sutton Housing Partnership. They also confirmed that unless there is firm evidence of who exactly broke into the site they cannot take the matter further. When I suggested their forensic colleagues could search for evidence they said they would not do so, in an effort to indentfy the perpettrator(s)!
I have also tried to contact all three of our Ward Councillorsby email and leaving ansaphone messages.they have not contacted me. Clearly we are only of value at local election time.

When the project is further forwardI am tempted to seek an FOI (Freedom of Information) request to determine from LBS how it has cost them/us to deal with these incursions.

Let's hope the Council and contractors are now persuaded to speed up the demolition of the flats and improve security.

LASTLY

You will see the green bin collection today that my contacting the Council worked after they failed to collect on Saturday. Should this happen again a call to the Council should suffice. They will then give and honour a timescale for special collection.

Another travellers incursion

I am exasperated that around 17:30 on Thursday night there was another travellers incursion in Corbet Close. I believe that the one security officer was assaulted during the break in.There are a number of caravans along with their associated families, vans and animals. The police arrived but were powerless to do anything, travellers evidently come under civil law.

The noise on Thursday went on until the early hours they also have a large generator running all night just to add to our problems. They are running along the balconies of the condemned flats shouting hello neighbours across to our houses. There is constant banging ,crashing, shouting and dogs barking. I presume the travellers are stripping anything of value from the flats. An open back truck brought in at least eight loads of rubbish and fly tipped it behind the hoarding at the far end of Corbet.

As of Friday night we have four bailiffs on site meant to be stopping the travellers gaining access once they leave. So missiles were thrown at them. Police arrived on mass and they did bring in a CCTV van, which left when things quieten down a bit. The travellers were blocking the road to our houses so we couldn't get in or out. The police did sort that out. Friday night was again another disturbed night. This morning Saturday, it all kicked off again when the day bailiffs come on duty. Travellers by the look of things have no intention of leaving.

The residents of the 25 private houses feel like the forgotten residents of Hackbridge as we don't seem to have any rights.

Morning all,

Not sure if many have noticed yet, we now have 2 caravans and a transit parked in Nightingale Close. I have alerted the council to this so fingers crossed they will be moved on swiftly, will have a look on my way in as I walk passed this road!

Yesterday I raised concerns with Sutton Council the issue of lack of security on site given the fire over the weekend and the recent travellers incursion. Please see response below:

I have spoken with the demolition firm about the fire and apparently there was security on site! Unsurprisingly the original security firm who were there over the weekend have now been replaced with a new firm.

Hopefully the demolition firm can now proceed unhindered. Due to the fly tipping by the travellers they are now looking at a slightly longer contract period, about 3 months.

Police, bailiffs and council officials cleared the travellers from the site this afternoon. A large piece of machinery has been parked behind the gate to stop any further incursions.
