Morning all,

Not sure if many have noticed yet, we now have 2 caravans and a transit parked in Nightingale Close. I have alerted the council to this so fingers crossed they will be moved on swiftly, will have a look on my way in as I walk passed this road!

Yesterday I raised concerns with Sutton Council the issue of lack of security on site given the fire over the weekend and the recent travellers incursion. Please see response below:

I have spoken with the demolition firm about the fire and apparently there was security on site! Unsurprisingly the original security firm who were there over the weekend have now been replaced with a new firm.

Hopefully the demolition firm can now proceed unhindered. Due to the fly tipping by the travellers they are now looking at a slightly longer contract period, about 3 months.

Police, bailiffs and council officials cleared the travellers from the site this afternoon. A large piece of machinery has been parked behind the gate to stop any further incursions.

Update: I have today been advised that the council have been granted a possession order. They are now awaiting a bailiffs date.

I have spoken to the Council Lawyer dealing with the ingress of travellers. He tells me they have until 22 July 2015 to vacate the site. If that doesn't happen a Court Order will be obtained and that should take about a week to get. That will then be served and they must go.

The travellers have asked for money to leave otherwise they are going to sit it out until they are evicted. I have just spoken to the council who are dealing with this as a matter of urgency.

They able to give a definitive timeframe at the moment. Can I please ask that everyone contacts Sutton Housing Partnership , the local councillors and MP. We need to keep this issue as high on Sutton councils agenda as possible.

As I have just pointed out, we all made it very clear prior to the planning permission being granted, that security was paramount to the residents in the houses, this was refuted. Now through the inefficiency and tardiness of the council, they going to have to spend a considerable amount on legal fees. A security would have been a cheaper option.

Demolition was due to start today but I understand that travellers have entered the hoarded off site so work cannot begin. Have spoken to council re this and hopefully something will be done. It may take a week however.

I'm sure you would have heard by now that the planning application for the cadet hut was approved on Wednesday evening.  Further info here

Strange that they have resubmitted plans for one four storey and one three. I thought the objections we're about the four storey house. Perhaps the designer thought know one would notice!
