This is a 1720 map of London Rd showing a section from the Goat pub running south to Wallington. Note the stream running across the road just below the "B" of Beddington Park. This is no longer there but its presence can still be seen in the grass colour just inside the park. Also just south from where the river crosses the road (then called Wallington Lane) - a triangular space opens up in the road. This area was called brewers green and stood just south of where Elmwood close emerges into London Rd. In fact there is still a little green to be seen there today. The brewery was further south towards the Rose & Crown so why this area should be called Brewers Green I don't know. Perhaps the owners of the brewery lived in the houses seen to be skirting the west side of the green on the map ?

The 1720 map above is from "Roque’s Map of Surrey about 1760."

Sorry I'd put 1720 in my text above.

That's very tantalising - can you give a bit more detail about the map and maybe we can upload to the timeline? Thanks!
