Hackbridge 1840

This is unfortunately a poor quality map that I copied from a Sutton Library file. It does however give good detail on the row of houses that line the Green and of the Red lion along with houses (now demolished) - next door. An intersting feature is what appears to be a stream running along the north side of the road from Hackbridge river Bridge to the triangle.

It was suggested at the Community Forum last night that this is in fact the Surrey Iron Railway - anyone any further info please?

Wow that's really interesting - thanks! I live in one of those houses on The Green!
